Terms of Service

Last updated: April 23, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing or using the Contxtly browser extension, creating an account, or subscribing to a paid plan, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. The Service

Contxtly is a browser extension that provides context-aware translations of text selected on webpages, along with a personal vocabulary list, grammatical breakdowns, and export to third-party learning tools. Features and availability may change over time.

3. Accounts

4. Plans, Billing, and Refunds

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

6. AI-Generated Content

Translations, grammar breakdowns, and contextual meanings are produced by a language model and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for certain uses (academic citation, legal or medical interpretation, professional translation work). You are responsible for verifying any output before relying on it.

7. Your Content

You retain ownership of the words and notes you save. By using the service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display this content solely to operate Contxtly for you. We do not use your saved vocabulary to train AI models.

8. Intellectual Property

The Contxtly name, logo, extension code, backend, and design are owned by the developer of Contxtly and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers those rights to you.

9. Third-Party Services

Contxtly relies on Supabase, Groq, Stripe, and Google Sign-In. Your use of the service is also subject to those providers' terms. We are not responsible for outages or policy changes of third-party providers.

10. Disclaimers

Contxtly is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or error-free operation.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Contxtly and its developer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising from your use of the service. Total aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

12. Termination

You may stop using Contxtly and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, abuse the service, or if we discontinue the service. On termination, your right to use the service ends immediately.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be indicated by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer of Contxtly resides, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes will be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction, unless applicable consumer-protection law requires otherwise.
